Background

Israel's very severe geographical conditions - insufficient land and water, extreme temperatures and very limited energy sources - have necessitated the development of a wide range of technological solutions so as to maximize the natural resources available and to prevent their pollution by the waste products of modern society.

Israel's main achievements in this area have been water desalination, water recycling for agriculture, waste treatment and the exploitation of solar energy (80% of private homes in Israel use solar heating).

Australia is known the world over as a "green" country, which is committed to protecting the environment. Cooperation between Israeli and Australian companies can be fruitful, especially in exploiting alternate energy sources, such as solar energy. With similar climates and environmental concerns, cooperation can assist in creating a better environment, improved health for the people and the habitat.
