Israel and Taiwan Sign Joint R&D Agreement

An Israeli delegation of Semiconductor, Photo Voltaic and FPD companies, headed by Mr. Miki Admon, the director of the Hi-tech division in Israel’s Export and International Cooperation Institute, visited Taiwan in March to promote a bilateral framework for funding of joint R & D projects between the two countries. During the visit the Israeli Companies participated in a professional seminar and B2B Meetings with local Taiwanese companies, organized by the Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and the Economic Section in the Israeli Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei (ISECO), in an effort to find a common base for further cooperation between the two sides.

Following these successful meetings, Taiwan and Israel signed an MOU, which included the creation of a new funding mechanism for private sector R&D projects. The industrial Technology Research Institute of Taiwan (ITRI), and the Israeli Industry Center for R&D signed the bilateral framework to form the Taiwan – Israel program for Industrial R&D, with a primary aim to support joint industrial R&D projects aimed at development of products or processes leading to commercialization in the global market. In particular, the program would focus on joint R&D projects in the fields of Cloud Computing, Green Energy and Communication

On March 22nd, a first “Call for Proposal” for Industrial Research and Development Projects was launched, as part of the economic and industrial cooperation between Israel and Taiwan. Cooperation between Israel and Taiwan in the field of Industrial Research and Development has taken a pivotal position in the relations between the sides. This “Call for Proposal” reinforces the commitment of the two sides to engage in joined industrial research and development into the future.
