As reported by IVC:

VP Nick Alexopoulos: We will fund research and participate in it, subject to the agreements we reach.

Semiconductor giant Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM) is not satisfied with acquiring Israeli start-ups; it wants to increase its exposure to Israeli technology through collaborations with the Technion Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa and Tel Aviv University.

Broadcom VP Prof. Nicholas Alexopoulos visited Israel last month and met representatives of the two universities to review cooperation. In an interview with “Globes”, he said that Broadcom was seeking important future technologies outside the company.

“We will fund research and participate in it, subject to the agreements we reach,” he said. “Israel is one of the first countries we approached. We’re also examining an offer to set up a research center in Singapore, where the government will provide 85% of the support, and we’ll provide 15%. They know that this will improve the country’s competitiveness. We’re in contact with academic institutions in Taiwan and the UK.”
